Good Folk - Meet Scott Cook & Michael Waugh
How awesome is this - the opportunity to have multi-album, seasoned professional musicians, singer/songwriters, perform for a small group in the comfort of your own living room, or in this case a friend's living room.
This was second House Concert I have attended and I am totally hooked. House Concerts Australia are online, it is free to register - here is a link to find out more.
Last night was a concert of folk music of the highest quality. Lyrics bring joy & sorrow, as the lyrics entertained & connected to many of the audience.
Scott Cook, travelling from his homeland Alberta, Canada entertained us with a range of
songs from his 3 albums. He left us to go onward to Maryborough and then follow on his extensive tour southbound. See Scott's website for all tour dates - link here.
Another awesome performer at the concert was Michael Waugh, who handled the second
set. Michael is a country boy at heart, growing up on a dairy property, spending his childhood & youth in the family milking routine. He now is a city dweller in Melbourne & even a full time Pastoral Care Teacher. Michael voice is incredibly soothing & his lyrics, from an Aussie perspective, easy to relate to & conjured up childhood memories I had not thought of in a long time. Just like Scott, the storyteller perspective of their folk art is what is most captivating about their performances, at least for me.
Michael Waugh album The Weir has just been released and is available on his website to buy or stream. Follow the link HERE. Michael's facebook page details his extensive tour dates - follow the link HERE.
